Designed by Doug Bowman with Landscape Architect Preston Dalrymple, this remodeling project originated from a desire to improve the rear yard and outdoor living/entertaining spaces of this painted brick ranch home.
To that end, a new outdoor living room was created, including wood columns, heavy cornice lines, and sky-blue wood volume ceiling. The patterned bluestone floor was continued in a connecting loggia, and spills out onto a random patterned terrace and walkway.
The outdoor spaces are connected to the interior by means of a sunny breakfast room and remodeled kitchen.
All of these spaces were designed with light, wood trim and topped with Buckingham Slate and standing-seam copper roofing. The construction of a view-directing serpentine brick seat wall and privacy screening completes the landscape composition around a re-graded yard and renovated gardens. |
