Particular attention was given
to develop a historically sensitive design for
expansion and remodeling of this home located
in the Ginter Park historic district.
The final design recalls the neighborhood’s
typical additive wrap-around porch, styled
with wood pilaster, beaded board, stucco and
traditional two-over-two divided lite windows.
The family room and master bedroom were completely
renovated while an addition created room for
an open kitchen, laundry room and mudroom on
the first floor. A master bath was added on
the second floor.
High ceilings, heart pine flooring, and custom-milled
woodwork match the original work. Kitchen storage
was designed in the “unfitted” fashion.
Glass-fronted upper cabinets, corbel and corner
legs further the cabinetry’s appeal as
kitchen furniture. Honed Italian Carerra marble
tops the broad island crafted of American Cherry.
