The final design recalls the neighborhood’s typical additive wrap-around porch, styled with wood pilaster, beaded board, stucco and traditional two-over-two divided lite windows. The family room and master bedroom were completely renovated while an addition created room for an open kitchen, laundry room and mudroom on the first floor. This c.1859 farmhouse in eastern Goochland County was improved by a design/build 800 square foot, 2-story addition, kitchen remodeling, and various structural repairs and cosmetic improvements. The den and breakfast room introduce light into the home with generous use of windows. The master bath and kitchen are fitted with vintage fixtures and architectural artifacts found by the client. The kitchen is finished in “country farmhouse” vernacular with custom cabinets, old pine combined with statuary marble countertops and roll-out basket storage. Exterior features include a new copper roof and exposed rafter tails supporting a tongue and groove soffit.

This project entailed a complete inside-and-out renovation of an architecturally significant 6000 SF home as well as the replacement of a detached carriage house.

Exterior features include rehabilitated stucco, new/repaired slate/copper/TCS roofing and diamond lite windows to match the original. Interior finishes include custom millwork and cabinetry throughout, stone countertops, six restored fireplaces and restored heart pine flooring.

State of the art plumbing, mechanical and electronic systems such as whole house stereo were a part of the work. An added octagonal breakfast room and sitework improvements were also a part of this project.
